Zoe Chater, 2013 Science: RQT

It was while I was working as a young experimental particle physicist when I made the decision to change career and become a teacher. I was awarded an Institute of Physics teacher training scholarship and a place at Manchester University. Support from staff throughout my PGCE was excellent and my placement experiences were varied and very positive. I particularly enjoyed the opportunities to explore learning theory and the philosophy of science. Even after relocating to Oxfordshire, the science tutors (Zahra, Andy and Alan) were full of advice and help, and it is in no small part thanks to them that I am now working in one of the best independent girls’ schools in the country. I am in my second year of working at St Helen and St Katharine, Abingdon and I absolutely love it here.
