Inclusion and Inspiration: Education for Social Justice
A cross-phase educational professional studies and NQT conference day
Wednesday 13 January 2016 Inspirational keynotes from Lemn Sissay (Poet and Chancellor of the University of Manchester) and
Hatim Kapacee and Jenny Langley (Headteachers)
Free of charge to all University of Manchester trainee teachers, alumni NQTs and Teach First participants
Sessions will include:
children’s mental health needs
dyslexia and dyscalculia
understanding autism
working in a PRU
growth mindsets
raising self pupil esteem through drama techniques
philosophy for children
exploring “British Values”
meeting the needs of our most vulnerable children.
Inspirational guest speakers from the University PGCE
partnership will share their expertise and experience and give
delegates an opportunity to discuss, debate and reflect upon
the need for social justice in our education system.
Participation will enable delegates to:
hear about the latest research on inclusive practice
examine different approaches to inclusion in their specific
context
participate in practical, thought-provoking sessions which
will enhance their classroom practice
network with colleagues in university and schools.
